What is a Reed Diffuser?
Our reed diffusers are a type of home fragrance system that consist of a glass bottle filled with fragrance oil and a set of reed sticks. The reeds, which our made out of rattan, are inserted into the oil, allowing the fragrance to travel up the reeds and disperse into the air.
Reed diffusers offer a flameless, heat-free alternative to scented candles and wax melts, making them a safer option for households with children or pets
How do Reed Diffusers Work?
The science behind reed diffusers is quite simple and relies on a process called capillary action. Here's how it works:
- The reed sticks are placed into the bottle containing the fragrance oil.
- The porous nature of the reeds allows the oil to be absorbed, traveling up the length of each reed.
- As the oil reaches the top of the reeds, it evaporates into the air, dispersing the scent throughout your space.
- The fragrance oil continues to travel up the reeds, providing a continuous scent in your room for several weeks or months.
To refresh the scent, simply flip the reeds every few weeks, allowing the saturated end to be exposed to the air.

Our reeds for the reed diffusers are made of natural and responsibly harvested rattan! This material is very porous which is why you'll notice our diffusers pack a big punch!
Our reed diffusers last between 4 and 5 months in our trials (using them in our home for the past year)
Since our reed diffusers use super concentrated fragrance oil, take care to keep them out of reach of children or pets.
Avoid direct contact of the oil with the skin or finished surfaces, as the oil can cause skin irritation or damage certain finishes.
If you spill some of the oil don't worry! Just wipe it up quickly and you shouldn't have any problems.
If you notice that your reed diffuser is no longer as fragrant, first check to make sure there is oil still left in the bottle.
If there is oil remaining, flip your reeds upside down to get the fragrance flowing again!
